Presentation: Why do green jobs plan need a different politics and economics?
Green jobs plans are important part of the transition to a zero carbon economy. But they need wider political commitments to make this happen. Member of Green House's Core Group, Jonathan Essex, spoke at the Greener Jobs Alliance's AGM to explore the need for a stronger position by the UK government on phasing out fossil fuels, for a transition for the heavy industry such as steel, to reduce overall demand for energy and materials, and for this to be set within an economics of redistribution.
The Greener Jobs Alliance campaigns around the issue of the jobs and skills needed to transition to a low carbon economy, supporting local projects through to advocacy at regional, national and international level.
